Southern Cotton Growers Logo

Southern Cotton Growers, Inc. (SCG) is a nonprofit certified producer organization with a membership consisting of cotton producers operating diversified farming operations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Since its inception in 1964, Southern Cotton Growers has effectively shaped and advocated for polices that provide a foundation for a viable cotton industry in the Southeast.

Our Background

Southern Cotton Growers, Inc. develops policy by achieving consensus among its members. A Board of Directors, comprised of leaders from the six southeastern states, constantly communicates with other cotton and commodity organizations, Members of Congress and the Administration. SCG’s efforts ensure Southeast cotton producers’ priorities are included in legislation guiding commodity, research, and promotion programs.

SCG members and staff:

  • Maintain working relationships with all Members of the House and Senate who represent the Southeastern United States.
  • Have a proven track record for successful policy development, adoption, and implementation at the national level.
  • Play an active role in national organizations by providing leadership, input and direction on behalf of producers in the Southeastern states.

SCG participates in and supports the activities of:

  • Cotton Council International – the export promotion arm of the National Cotton Council of America working to promote increased consumption of U.S. cotton fiber and manufactured cotton products around the globe via their COTTON USA brand.
